Current Programs

The UCSD History-Social Science Project is currently sponsoring two professional development programs: "Citizenship and American History" and "Science, Culture, History, and English Language Development (SCHELD)" .

In addition, the Project also provides school-based professional development on a cost-recovery basis. Since 1998, we have worked in partnership with Crawford High School and Mann Middle School in the San Diego Unified School District and with Sweetwater High School , Granger Junior High School , National City Middle School , and Mar Vista High School in the Sweetwater Union High School District. Each of the school-based professional development program is designed to impact both teacher and student learning through the following elements:

  • implementing the state standards
  • identifying new resources to support the standards
  • employing and designing appropriate lessons and assessments for the new standards, and
  • developing a rich culture of reflection among the participants
